Hip Resurfacing cost
Hip resurfacing cost in turkey sits at $9,000 – $14,000 for the partner package, while the United States benchmark is $30,600 – $56,050 and Germany $10,400 – $23,100. This page prices a bone-conserving alternative to a standard replacement, then shows who qualifies, what the trip adds and when staying home is wiser.

Key takeaways
- 1The hip resurfacing cost for the contracted partner package in turkey is $9,000 – $14,000, based on approved records and a stated validity window.
- 2Benchmarks run from $30,600 – $56,050 in the United States to $10,100 – $22,900 in France, with $10,400 – $23,100 in Germany and $10,050 – $23,050 in Spain.
- 3Against the typical American price the package saves about 73%, but against Germany, Spain or France the saving falls to roughly 30%.
- 4Resurfacing is only suitable for a narrow group, usually younger, active patients with strong bone, so many quotes end in a recommendation for a standard replacement instead.
- 5The hospital stay is usually 3 nights, followed by a long period of protected walking and a plan for blood tests that track metal levels.
- 6The implant design and the surgeon's track record matter more here than for almost any other hip operation, so price should never be the first filter.
- 7Compare only quotes that name the same implant, the same bearing and the same follow-up plan.
Hip resurfacing cost: how the price is built
Hip resurfacing cost is the price of capping the worn ball of the hip with a metal shell instead of removing it, plus the socket, the stay and the early care. In turkey the partner package is $9,000 – $14,000. Benchmarks are $30,600 – $56,050 in the United States, $14,950 – $32,850 in Canada and $10,400 – $23,100 in Germany. These are estimates from approved records, not quotes.
What a resurfacing bill pays for
The surgeon shaves the head of the thigh bone, caps it with a metal cover, and fits a matching metal cup in the pelvis. The femoral neck stays in place. Our hip resurfacing guide explains the design, and the bill follows its parts: surgeon, anaesthesia, theatre, the two-piece implant, the ward and early physiotherapy.
Because the surgery is technically demanding, theatre time can be longer than for a stem-based hip. Exposure needs care, and the cup position must be exact. Hospitals that perform few resurfacings may price the operation higher, or decline it altogether.
Price bases that change the number
Some prices are list prices that an uninsured patient is quoted. Some are negotiated insurer rates. Others are bundles that fix a single figure for the episode. The turkey package is a bundle. The benchmarks come from lists, tariffs and datasets, so a hip resurfacing price in one country is rarely a like-for-like figure against another.
Also check what the quote says about implants. In some markets only one or two resurfacing designs remain available, and a supplier with little competition can set the price. That is one reason this operation does not follow the normal pattern of falling prices.
Why quotes often cannot be set side by side
One quote may include 3 nights, metal-ion blood tests and a follow-up X-ray. Another may list only the operation. A third may be for a stem-based replacement under a resurfacing label. Treat any quote that does not name the implant as incomplete.
When people ask how much hip resurfacing costs, the honest answer begins with a second question: which design and which surgeon? Our questions to ask before surgery abroad guide helps you build a checklist.
Reading a range sensibly
A range reflects real variation, not a negotiation. The low end is a smaller hospital or a market with lower wages. The high end is a premium centre or one with few resurfacing surgeons. Most bills land in the middle, so this page also shows a typical figure for each market.
Use the range to decide whether a quote is plausible. If an offer is far below the range, ask what has been left out. If it is far above, ask what extra is included, such as a longer stay or extensive monitoring.

Where is hip resurfacing cheapest?
Hip resurfacing cost is highest in the United States at $30,600 – $56,050 and lowest among the benchmarks in France at $10,100 – $22,900, while the turkey package stands at $9,000 – $14,000. The table sets out all eight markets and the saving the package represents against each typical price.
| Country | Benchmark range | Typical saving in turkey | What drives the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $30,600 – $56,050 | 73% | Facility fees, separate professional bills, limited implant choice |
| United Arab Emirates | $14,750 – $35,200 | 54% | Premium private hospitals and few resurfacing surgeons |
| Canada | $14,950 – $32,850 | 52% | Public funding, so private lists are thin |
| Saudi Arabia | $14,100 – $33,350 | 52% | Private tariffs, insurer approval for specialist implants |
| Germany | $10,400 – $23,100 | 31% | Tariff system, specialist centres for conserving surgery |
| Spain | $10,050 – $23,050 | 31% | Lower private tariffs, a handful of experienced surgeons |
| France | $10,100 – $22,900 | 30% | Regulated tariffs and private supplements |
Where resurfacing costs most
The typical price in the United States is $43,350, far above every other benchmark. Fewer American surgeons offer the operation than in the past, and the facility fee, the surgeon fee and the implant often arrive as separate bills. A patient without cover who qualifies medically sees the largest possible gap here.
Against that typical figure the package saves about 73%, or $31,850 in money. Even once flights, hotel nights and home rehabilitation are subtracted, a large share of the gap normally stays. See the total hip replacement cost page for the standard alternative.
The Gulf and Canada
The United Arab Emirates ranges $14,750 – $35,200, with a typical $25,000. Canada ranges $14,950 – $32,850 with a typical $23,900, and Saudi Arabia $14,100 – $33,350 with $23,750. Specialist surgeons are few in these markets, so patients who qualify for resurfacing may have to pay for scarcity.
The saving with the package is about 54% against the Emirates, 52% against Canada and 52% against Saudi Arabia. Saudi and Emirati nationals with home cover should check whether prior authorisation for overseas treatment is possible.
Continental Europe
Germany ranges $10,400 – $23,100 and Spain $10,050 – $23,050, while France comes in at $10,100 – $22,900. Typical figures are $16,750, $16,550 and $16,500. Public systems in these countries seldom pay for resurfacing in the first place, and where they do, access is through a few referral centres.
The saving shrinks to roughly 31%, 31% and 30%. When a patient lives next door to an experienced resurfacing surgeon, that expertise is worth more than a small price gap. Travel makes sense only where the saving is wide or the local access is poor.
Where access matters more than price
Resurfacing differs from many operations because supply is thin. The sensible question is not just who is cheaper, but who does this regularly. A patient in a country with a high-volume resurfacing centre should usually go there. A patient with no such centre nearby may find that a turkey surgeon with a long record is the more experienced option.

Why hip resurfacing costs less in Turkey
The turkey package for hip resurfacing is an all-inclusive bundle that currently runs $9,000 – $14,000, with a midpoint of $11,500. It is built from approved records and a validity window, and it assumes one hip and a named resurfacing design. Our hip resurfacing in turkey page describes the care pathway.
What the bundle includes
The package covers assessment and imaging, the surgeon and anaesthesia fees, theatre time, the resurfacing implant, 3 nights in a private room, in-patient physiotherapy, medication, baseline blood tests and local transfers. A case manager and an interpreter are normally part of the service.
It does not cover flights, a companion, hotel nights outside the stay, travel insurance or later follow-up blood tests and imaging at home. These last items matter more than usual for this implant, so budget for them from the start.
Implant and bearing assumptions
The price assumes a design with a documented record, a metal-on-metal bearing in most resurfacing systems, and a size matched to your femoral head. Ask the surgeon for the brand, the head size and the registry data for that design. If the measured head size falls below the recommended minimum, the plan may change to a standard replacement.
Why the price is lower and what that does not mean
Lower wages, large private hospital groups and bundled billing lower the price in turkey. Volume does too, because a surgeon who performs resurfacing often can complete cases efficiently. A low price is not a sign of a weaker implant. It does not remove the need to check the surgeon's actual numbers, which is the single most useful question for this operation.
Accreditation such as JCI helps with hospital standards. Our turkey orthopedics overview explains how partners are chosen, and the why turkey guide gives the wider reasoning.
Reading a hip resurfacing package turkey offer
A hip resurfacing package turkey quote should name the design, the head size you are expected to need, the nights, the baseline tests and the follow-up plan on a single page. An affordable hip resurfacing in turkey is one where the surgeon has confirmed you are suitable first and where nothing important is left to be billed later.
The hip resurfacing cost in turkey should also come with a short written statement of what happens if the plan changes on the day. Ask for that statement before you pay a deposit. It tells you more about a provider than a long list of features.
Questions about experience
Because resurfacing is a specialist operation, ask the surgeon to describe their own series: how many cases, how many with your head size, and what share needed a conversion. A surgeon who can answer without hesitation, and who admits limits, is a safer choice than one who promises the operation to everyone who asks.
Cities and travel
Resurfacing is offered in a handful of centres, mostly in Istanbul, with some activity in Ankara and Izmir. Choose the surgeon first and the city second.
Validity and versioning
The live range changes when a new package version is published. Implant prices, exchange rates and fees all move, so check the expiry date on your quote and ask what happens if your date shifts.
The honest limits
Many patients who ask for resurfacing are advised against it after assessment. Smaller femoral heads, weaker bone, kidney problems, some metal sensitivities and certain anatomies point to a stem-based replacement. If that happens, you want a provider who tells you plainly, not one who sells you the operation anyway. See anterior hip replacement cost as one alternative.
Hip resurfacing cost breakdown: where the money goes
Approximate share of a typical all-inclusive package by component.
| Component | Share | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Surgeon fee | 20% | Paid for a technically exacting operation; about $1,800 – $2,800 here, higher for operators with a long resurfacing record. |
| Anaesthesia | 6% | Spinal or general anaesthesia plus a pain block, roughly $550 – $850. |
| Theatre and sterile equipment | 13% | Theatre time, special instruments and staff for a longer exposure, near $1,150 – $1,800. |
| Implant | 25% | Metal cap and matching cup; the part that shapes the hip resurfacing price most, about $2,250 – $3,500. |
| Ward stay | 11% | Three nights in a single room with nursing, close to $1,000 – $1,550. |
| Imaging and laboratory | 7% | Pelvis X-rays, a bone-quality check and baseline metal-level blood tests, about $650 – $1,000. |
| Inpatient physiotherapy | 6% | First steps, crutch training and a protected-walking programme, roughly $550 – $850. |
| Coordination and transfers | 6% | Case management, interpreter, airport and hospital transport, around $550 – $850. |
| Medication and consumables | 5% | Analgesia, thrombosis prevention and dressings, about $450 – $700. |
What affects the cost of hip resurfacing?
- Surgeon resurfacing volume
- An operator with a long record may charge more, and that premium can be good value for a demanding technique.
- Implant design
- Systems differ in price and in the strength of their long-term registry data, so keep the design constant when comparing.
- Femoral head size
- Larger heads usually suit resurfacing, and a size outside the recommended range can mean a different operation and a different price.
- Patient sex and bone quality
- Planning scans and bone density checks may add small fees and can change the plan to a standard replacement.
- Hospital tier
- Premium hospitals charge more for rooms, nursing and brand, often adding a noticeable share to the total.
- City and region
- Big cities usually cost somewhat more than smaller ones, typically by roughly 5% to 15%.
- Length of stay
- Each extra night adds a ward charge, and a slow start with walking can add one.
- Metal-ion monitoring
- Baseline and follow-up blood tests add a recurring cost that many quotes leave out.
- Comorbidities
- Kidney disease, diabetes or heart problems may mean extra tests or a different implant.
- Bilateral surgery
- Two hips in one session is rare for resurfacing and usually staged months apart.
- Currency movements
- Exchange rate changes shift the price in your own currency between quote and payment.
Cost by technique or variant
Compare quotes for the same variant only. Robotic, bilateral and revision procedures are priced separately.
Total budget for hip resurfacing abroad
The full trip for hip resurfacing costs the package plus travel, lodging, a companion, insurance and the long follow-up at home. These items usually take a modest share of the saving, but the follow-up tests are more important than for other hips. The table lists each line and when it is paid.
| Budget line | Size relative to package | When it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Partner package | $9,000 – $14,000, the core of the budget | Deposit on booking, balance at admission or discharge |
| Your flights | A visible line, varying by season and distance | At booking |
| Companion flights | About the same as your own | At booking |
| Hotel before and after the stay | Moderate, set by the number of nights | On arrival or departure |
| Meals and local transport | Small | Daily |
| Travel and complication insurance | Small relative to the package | Before travel |
| Metal-level tests and imaging at home | Small each year, but continuing | Across several years |
| Rehabilitation at home | Depends on local clinic rates | Across 8 to 12 weeks |
| Contingency | A reserve of roughly 10% to 15% | Only if needed |
Worked example: United States against turkey
An uninsured American patient who qualifies for resurfacing meets a typical $43,350. The package is $9,000 – $14,000, and the typical saving is 73%, or $31,850 in money. After flights for two, a long stay and home follow-up, most of that gap normally remains.
Worked example: Canada against turkey
A Canadian private patient sees a typical $23,900. The saving against the package is about 52%, or $12,400 in money. After the trip and aftercare, the net gain is smaller but usually still clear.
Worked example: France against turkey
A patient in France meets a typical $16,500, a saving of just 30%. After a trip for two and time off work, there may be nothing left. Where an experienced resurfacing surgeon works nearby, this patient should stay home.
Budgeting for the long tail
Put aside a modest yearly amount for blood tests and an occasional scan. This recurring cost is small beside the package, but patients who forget it feel it as a surprise. Ask your local clinic what it charges before you travel.
Travel, hotel and insurance costs for hip resurfacing
Travel, hotel and companion costs
The largest travel cost for hip resurfacing is the flight for you and a companion, then hotel nights around the hospital stay. Because walking is protected for the first weeks, plan for a trip that is gentler than for other hips. Our travel and accommodation guide adds practical detail.
How the trip is shaped
The hospital stay is usually 3 nights. Most patients arrive 2 days early for imaging and the surgeon's final check, then stay 7 to 10 days after discharge for a wound review and a safe start with crutches. The return flight date comes from the surgeon, not from a cheap fare.
Flights with a protected hip
Book a fare you can change, choose an aisle seat, and plan to stand and walk often. Crutches travel with you, and airport assistance helps with long corridors. Our flying after surgery guide covers clot prevention and timing.
Lodging that suits crutches
Choose a hotel near the hospital with a lift, a walk-in shower and no steps at the entrance. Narrow bathrooms, spiral stairs and old buildings are hard on crutches. The coordinator can usually suggest partner hotels with accessible rooms.
Food and getting around
Meals are a small line, and most transfers are inside the package. With crutches, short taxi rides beat long walks, so keep a reserve for local transport. Ask the hotel to hold luggage and to send meals up if needed.
The first two weeks on crutches
Protected weight-bearing means you rely on crutches for part of the early recovery, and the hospital physiotherapist will set the plan. Practise on the stairs before discharge and ask which activities to avoid. Do not rush back to long walks in a new city, since a tired hip is more vulnerable in the early weeks.
Who travels with you
A companion carries bags, helps with stairs and watches for warning signs such as a hot, swollen thigh. Read our companion guide for more. Many patients bring a spouse, a sibling or an adult child.
Ways to hold spending down
Book early, avoid expensive districts, and use the hospital's transfer service. Do not cut the stay to save a night, because early problems are easiest to deal with while you are still near the surgical team.
Insurance and financing
Insurers rarely pay for hip resurfacing abroad, and many do not pay for it at home, so confirm cover early and plan to fund the operation yourself. The rules vary by policy, scheme and country, which makes a written answer more valuable than a phone call.
Cover for the operation itself
Some health plans treat resurfacing as a non-standard implant and refuse it, or approve a standard replacement only. Ask your insurer which implant types it accepts and whether a conserving option needs a second opinion. If it refuses, ask for the refusal in writing so you can keep it with your records.
Cover for follow-up and revision
A key question is whether your home insurer or health service will fund the metal-level tests, the scans and any later revision. These come years after the operation. Ask in writing, and consider asking your local surgeon whether they will oversee the monitoring before you travel.
Travel and complication insurance
Standard travel insurance usually excludes planned surgery. Medical-travel policies can cover a readmission, an extended stay or an emergency flight home. Read the exclusions for pre-existing conditions and elective procedures with care.
Medical-travel brokers and fees
Some intermediaries add a service fee on top of the hospital price. Ask whether the quote is the hospital package or a package plus a fee, and who holds your deposit. A transparent answer protects you, and it also helps when you compare hip resurfacing cost between providers.
Documents to ask for
Request the itemised quote, the operation note, the implant record with brand, head size and batch, the imaging reports, the baseline blood results and the discharge summary. Your local team will need these for monitoring. Our follow-up after returning home guide explains the order.
National schemes and employers
Gulf nationals are often covered at home but may need prior authorisation to be treated abroad. Some European cross-border rules reimburse at home tariffs after approval, though a non-standard implant may not qualify. Employer plans differ, so ask your human resources team.
How to pay for hip resurfacing
Hip resurfacing is usually paid in two steps, a deposit after the records review and a balance on arrival or at discharge, and the terms should be written into the contract. A clear schedule protects you if the surgeon changes the plan after seeing your scans.
| Stage | Typical practice | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | A share of the package after records review | Refund if the case is declined or the plan changes |
| Plan change | If the surgeon advises a standard hip | The revised price in writing before you proceed |
| Balance | On arrival or at discharge | Accepted methods and currency |
| Extras | Only if agreed in advance | An itemised list with a ceiling |
What happens if the plan changes
Because the surgeon may advise a standard replacement after a scan, ask how the price and the deposit would change. A good provider tells you in advance and puts the new price in writing. A poor one lets you arrive and then proceeds anyway.
Currency and fees
The price is shown here in USD, but a contract can be in another currency. Banks add conversion fees and card limits can cap a large payment. A bank transfer is usually simplest, and receipts should match the contract.
Comparing quotes fairly
Convert each quote to one currency on the same day. Then set the package of $9,000 – $14,000 beside the home quote and compare the implant design, the nights, the follow-up tests and the inclusions. If any item is missing, the quote is not comparable.
Paying for monitoring later
The package does not usually include years of follow-up. Set aside a modest sum for yearly blood tests and an occasional scan. Ask a local clinic what they charge, or ask whether your public system will perform the tests after surgery abroad.
Loans and credit
Medical loans can remove the saving through interest. Use them only if the repayment terms are clear and the total stays below the home price. Savings and employer benefits are safer starting points.
Hip resurfacing cost versus value: what you get
The value of hip resurfacing lies in keeping more of your own bone and in a head size close to natural, not in a lower price. It is worth paying for only when you are a good candidate, the surgeon is experienced and the follow-up is arranged. In other cases, a standard replacement is better value.
What resurfacing offers
By preserving the femoral neck, resurfacing leaves more bone for any later operation. Large heads can reduce dislocation risk and may feel natural to active patients. Those benefits are real in suitable people, though they come with their own risks and do not apply to everyone.
What the evidence warns about
National joint registries and regulators have raised concerns about some metal-on-metal designs, and some devices have been withdrawn. Women and patients with small heads have had higher failure rates in some reports. Choose a design with a long, published record and a surgeon who knows its limits.
Surgeon volume
This is the most important factor. Resurfacing is technically demanding, and results depend heavily on cup position and neck preservation. Ask how many resurfacings the surgeon has done, how many in the past 2 years, and what they do when a patient is not suitable.
Aftercare and monitoring
A responsible programme includes baseline and follow-up metal-ion tests, X-rays and a plan for who reads the results. Ask who will do this at home, and what happens if a result is high. This is part of the value, and it is often missing from low quotes.
Comparing hip resurfacing cost with the alternatives
When you weigh hip resurfacing cost against a standard hip, include the long tail: monitoring, possible scans and the chance of a later conversion. A standard hip may cost similar upfront but needs less monitoring. Read the anterior hip replacement cost page to see what a muscle-sparing standard hip adds.
Return to sport and work
Many patients choose resurfacing hoping to return to running or impact sport. Surgeons differ on what is wise, and results vary with the person. Ask what activity level your surgeon expects, and how long they advise before you restart. Value should be judged against realistic goals, not against marketing images.
The other side: continuity and recourse
If follow-up is the weak point, treating at home may be the better choice. A local surgeon who performed the operation can read each blood test and examine you when pain appears. Abroad, those links depend on messages, images and a cooperative home clinician. Weigh that honestly against the saving.
When a standard hip is the better buy
For most people over 60, for many women and for anyone with weaker bone, a standard hip has a long record and a simpler follow-up. The hip resurfacing vs hip replacement cost gap can also be modest. If your surgeon recommends the standard operation, that is advice, not a downgrade.
Revision and complication costs after hip resurfacing
If hip resurfacing goes wrong, the usual remedy is a revision to a stem-based hip, and the cost depends on who performs it and what the package covers. Most patients do well, but this operation has a particular late risk that is worth discussing before you pay.
What can go wrong
In general terms, problems include a fracture of the femoral neck, usually early, infection, dislocation, nerve irritation and reactions to metal debris that appear later as pain, swelling or abnormal blood results. Careful selection and technique lower these risks but cannot remove them.
What the package covers
Most packages cover complications during the admission and a defined period of review. A fracture months later, a return flight or a revision is usually excluded. Ask for the exact period and for the price of a revision in writing.
Treatment abroad or at home
Early problems are treated where you had surgery, while later ones are usually handled by a local surgeon who needs your implant record and baseline results. Arrange this before you travel, and ask the overseas team to send their notes to your local doctor.
Revision as a financial event
A revision from resurfacing to a standard hip is simpler than many revisions because bone was preserved, but it is still a major operation. Read the revision hip replacement cost page. Ask your insurer whether it would fund a revision after treatment abroad.
Metal debris reactions and cost
A reaction to metal debris, when it occurs, can mean extra imaging, specialist review and sometimes a revision. These costs fall on you or on your local health service. This is why the monitoring plan is not a minor detail, and why you should ask who funds it before you decide.
Questions to put in writing
Ask how long the team stays responsible, whether a conversion operation is discounted, who pays for extra nights and how records will reach your local surgeon. A provider who answers directly deserves more trust.
Where should you have hip resurfacing? A decision guide
Whether to travel for hip resurfacing depends first on whether you are a suitable candidate, then on your insurance, your local access and the price gap. The table pairs common situations with the most sensible route and the reason for it.
| Situation | Most sensible route | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Young, active, strong bone, large head, uninsured in the United States | Consider turkey | The home price is several times the package for a qualifying patient |
| Same profile in Canada or the Gulf | Consider turkey | A clear saving remains after travel and follow-up are counted |
| Same profile near an experienced surgeon in Germany or France | Stay home | The saving is small and local follow-up is a benefit |
| Woman with a small femoral head | Ask for a standard hip | Registries suggest higher failure rates in some groups |
| Weak bone, kidney disease or metal sensitivity | Standard hip, near home | Resurfacing is not usually suitable |
| Over 65, not very active | Standard hip | A conventional replacement has a longer, simpler record |
| No local clinician willing to monitor metal levels | Hold off or stay home | Follow-up is part of the safety plan |
Patients who qualify and have no local option
If your local system does not offer resurfacing, or only one surgeon does it rarely, a turkey surgeon with a long record can be the more experienced option as well as the cheaper one. Ask for the numbers in writing and compare them with what you can find at home.
Patients who may be better served by a standard hip
A surprising number of people who ask for resurfacing are better served by a conventional replacement. Our hip osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis of the hip pages explain the conditions, and the surgeon will explain how they affect the choice. Avascular necrosis in particular can make bone unsuitable for resurfacing.
Patients with a long public wait
Where a public system offers only a standard hip, a long queue for a conserving operation can stretch for many months. If you qualify medically and the wait is long, a fixed date abroad has value. If you do not qualify, the wait for a standard hip may be shorter, and the sensible path is to take it. Do not travel for an operation your own scans argue against.
Patients who want a second opinion first
A records review costs little compared with the operation. Send your scans before you book anything, and ask a local surgeon for a view as well. When two opinions agree that you are a candidate, the decision to proceed rests on firmer ground.
Gulf nationals and EU patients
Gulf nationals should ask their scheme about prior authorisation, and EU patients should ask about cross-border rules and whether a non-standard implant qualifies. Both groups should confirm who will monitor blood levels at home before travelling.
People who are unsure whether to travel at all
Some patients are drawn to the saving and overlook how much of this operation depends on follow-up. If you cannot name a clinician at home who will monitor you, pause. Ask your family doctor, or a local orthopedic surgeon, whether they will accept the role. A hip resurfacing cost that looks low can become costly if the follow-up is left to chance.
Taking the next step
Send your scans for a records review first. Our medical record review guide explains what is needed. Then request a personal quote, and ask the surgeon to state clearly whether resurfacing is suitable for you, and if not, what they advise instead.
Questions to ask before you book hip resurfacing
- 01Am I a suitable candidate for resurfacing, and which test results or measurements led you to that view?
- 02Which exact implant design do you use, and what do national registries say about its record?
- 03How many resurfacings have you personally performed, and how many in the last 2 years?
- 04What head size do you expect to use, and what happens if my measured size is below the recommended minimum?
- 05Does the quote cover baseline metal-ion tests, and who arranges the later ones at home?
- 06How many nights are included, and what does an extra night cost?

How we calculate hip resurfacing prices
This page presents estimates, not quotations. The turkey figure is a contracted package from our partner hospitals, and every other figure is a benchmark assembled from approved records. The notes below describe the method and its limits.
Benchmark ranges
Benchmark ranges draw on approved records, including self-pay price lists, public tariffs and insurer datasets. We use the lower and upper percentiles as the range and the middle as the typical price. Values are rounded and outliers excluded. Because resurfacing is performed in few centres, some markets have fewer records and wider ranges.
The partner package
The turkey price covers one defined episode: assessment, surgery, implant, stay and early rehabilitation. It has a version, a validity window and a stated implant assumption. A new version replaces the old when any element changes, and the tokens on this page update automatically.
Currency and age of records
Prices are shown in USD. Exchange rates move and records age, so each benchmark has a freshness window, and older entries are refreshed or removed.
What lies outside the numbers
Flights, hotels, a companion, insurance, long-term monitoring and any later revision are not part of the ranges. Neither is any personal medical factor, such as bone quality or head size, which decides whether the operation is suitable at all.
Reading a saving
A saving percentage compares typical prices with the package. It is a financial figure only, with no view on quality or outcome. Use it to decide whether a quote is worth requesting, and let your scans and your surgeon decide the rest.
