Key takeaways
- 1The bunion surgery cost for the contracted partner package in turkey is $3,000 – $5,500, based on approved records and a stated validity window.
- 2Typical self-pay benchmarks are $6,400 – $21,800 in the United States, $4,550 – $16,300 in Australia and $3,350 – $11,050 in the United Kingdom.
- 3Against the typical United States price the partner package saves about 70%, but against Spain the gap narrows to about 31%.
- 4Bunion correction is usually a day-case operation with 0 hospital nights, so the trip is driven by recovery and flying rules rather than the ward.
- 5Because the operation is short, a low gap against nearby European prices may not justify a flight, while the gap against the US, Australia and the Gulf often does.
- 6The technique, whether one foot or two, and the number of toes treated change the price more than any other variable.
- 7Compare quotes on the same procedure type, the same fixation hardware and the same aftercare, or the numbers mean little.
Bunion surgery cost: how the price is built
The bunion surgery cost is the sum of surgeon, anaesthesia, theatre, fixation hardware, imaging and follow-up charges for correcting the big-toe joint. In turkey the contracted partner package is $3,000 – $5,500. Self-pay benchmarks are $6,400 – $21,800 in the United States, $4,550 – $16,300 in Australia and $3,350 – $11,050 in the United Kingdom. These are estimates from approved records, not quotes.
What the bunion surgery cost covers
A bunion, or hallux valgus, is a bony bump with a drifting big toe. Surgery cuts and realigns the first metatarsal, sometimes tightens soft tissue, and holds the bone with small screws or plates. Our bunion surgery guide explains the operation itself. This page is about money.
A typical bill has a surgeon fee, an anaesthetist fee, theatre and day-unit time, the screws or plates, pre-operative X-rays and a post-operative shoe or boot. Because most patients go home the same day, there is no long ward charge. That makes this one of the smaller bills in orthopedics, and the gaps between countries are smaller too.
Price bases: self-pay list, insurer rate and bundled package
Three kinds of price circulate. A self-pay list price is what an uninsured patient is quoted at the desk. An insurer rate is the discounted amount a plan agrees with the clinic, usually lower and rarely visible to you. A bundled package fixes one price for the whole episode, including follow-up.
The partner package in turkey is a bundle. Benchmarks for other countries come from self-pay lists, tariffs and insurer datasets. A bunion surgery price from one country therefore cannot sit beside another unless you know what each includes.
Why two quotes are rarely comparable
One clinic may quote a single-foot scarf osteotomy with local anaesthetic. Another may quote a Lapidus fusion under general anaesthetic with a night in the ward. Both are bunion surgery, yet the second needs more theatre time, stronger hardware and a longer boot period.
Before comparing, write down the technique, anaesthetic type, hardware, the toes treated and the aftercare included. If a quote omits them, ask. Our questions to ask before surgery abroad list helps with this.
How to read a price range
A range is not a bargaining window. The low end usually reflects a simple correction in a small day clinic. The high end reflects a complex realignment in a large private hospital in a capital city. Most real bills land near the middle, which is why this page also quotes a typical figure per country.
When you see a saving of 70% against the United States, it compares the middle of that benchmark with the middle of the partner package. For a cheaper European market such as France, with $2,800 – $10,000, the saving is only 34%. Use these figures to decide whether to request a quote, then let the quote decide.

Where is bunion surgery cheapest?
Bunion surgery cost is highest in the United States at $6,400 – $21,800 and lowest among the benchmarks in Spain at $2,750 – $9,500, while the turkey package sits at $3,000 – $5,500. The table compares eleven markets and the saving the package offers against each typical price.
| Country | Benchmark range | Typical saving in turkey | What drives the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $6,400 – $21,800 | 70% | Facility fee plus separate surgeon and anaesthesia bills |
| Australia | $4,550 – $16,300 | 59% | Private hospital and specialist fees outside the public system |
| United Arab Emirates | $4,000 – $15,000 | 55% | Premium private clinics and insurer-led pricing |

The dearest markets: United States and Australia
The United States has the highest bunion surgery price in the group, with a typical figure of $14,100. The facility fee for a surgical centre, the surgeon, the anaesthetist and the hardware are often billed separately. Australia follows at $4,550 – $16,300, where private specialist fees add up quickly for patients without extras cover.
For these two markets the saving in turkey is large enough to cover a flight, hotel and companion and still leave a margin. That is why many uninsured or high-deductible patients ask for a quote.
Gulf and Canadian patients
The United Arab Emirates benchmark is $4,000 – $15,000 and Saudi Arabia is $3,500 – $13,150. Residents with employer cover may pay little at home, but plans often exclude surgery judged cosmetic or ask for long approvals. Canada sits at $3,800 – $12,600. Public care exists but waits for non-urgent foot surgery can be long, which pushes some patients to private clinics.
For these groups the case for turkey rests on speed and a clear bundled price, with a saving of 55% against the Emirates and 48% against Canada.
Mid-priced European markets
The United Kingdom benchmark is $3,350 – $11,050 and Germany is $2,850 – $11,350. In the UK, public waiting lists for elective foot surgery can be long, so some patients self-fund privately. Germany bills through tariffs, and statutory insurers usually pay when pain and function justify the operation. The savings, 41% and 40%, are real but more modest.
Where the gap is smallest
Italy at $2,800 – $10,500, France at $2,800 – $10,000 and Spain at $2,750 – $9,500 have low private tariffs for a day-case operation. The saving is 36%, 34% and 31% respectively. For a short operation like this, a flight and a few nights away can absorb most of that gap. Patients there should compare a local quote before getting on a plane.
What cheaper does not mean
A low bunion surgery cost is no proof of quality, and a high one is no proof of skill. Look at technique choice, surgeon volume, hardware and aftercare. Our forefoot surgery cost guide shows how the price changes when several toes are treated in one session.

Why bunion surgery costs less in Turkey
The turkey partner package for bunion surgery costs $3,000 – $5,500 and bundles the operation, day-unit care, hardware, imaging and follow-up into one agreed price. It is described in detail on our bunion surgery in turkey page. The range reflects the technique and the hospital tier you are matched with.
What the package includes
The package usually includes consultation and records review, pre-operative X-rays, the surgeon and anaesthesia fees, theatre time, fixation hardware, a post-operative shoe, dressings, medication for the first days, a wound check and local transfers. Hospital nights are 0 in the standard plan because the operation is done as a day case.
Flights, hotel, meals, your companion and travel insurance are not included. Anything outside the stated technique, such as extra toes, a fusion of the midfoot joint or a revision, needs a new quote. Confirm all of this in writing.
Implant assumptions
The package assumes standard titanium or stainless steel screws or a low-profile plate. Premium plates, bio-absorbable pins or custom guides may add to the figure. Ask which hardware is in the quote and whether it may be removed later if it irritates the skin.
Why the price is lower without lower quality
Wages, rent and supply chains in turkey are cheaper than in the United States or Australia, and private hospitals compete for international patients. Day-case surgeons also perform foot operations in high volume. Bundling removes billing layers, and a lower local currency helps. None of this implies a worse operation.
What it does mean is that you need to check what you are buying. Ask whether the hospital is accredited, how many bunion corrections the surgeon performs a year and what the revision policy is. See our partner hospitals, our surgeon directory and orthopedics in turkey for standards we apply.
Cities and logistics
Most international foot patients are matched in Istanbul, Izmir or Antalya. Istanbul has the most hospitals and direct flights, Izmir is calmer and Antalya combines recovery with a resort setting. The city can shift the final price slightly, which is why the package is a range.
Who sees you and how the day runs
Your surgeon examines the foot, reviews the weight-bearing X-rays and confirms the technique on arrival, before anything is signed off for theatre. You arrive fasting, have the operation in the morning and usually leave the unit in the afternoon with the foot bandaged and a protective shoe. The coordinator drives you to the hotel.
Bunion surgery cost in turkey stays low partly because this flow is efficient: no ward bed, no long stay and a focused follow-up. Expect a call the next day and a wound check within about 2 weeks.
Validity window and versions
The partner package carries a validity window and a version number. If your surgery date falls after the window, the price may be updated. Keep a copy of the quote that you accepted and ask that it name the technique and hardware.
Honest limits
Turkey is the wrong choice if your deformity is severe with arthritis that needs fusion, if you have poorly controlled diabetes or poor circulation, or if you take medicines that raise clotting or healing risk. In those cases surgery closer to your treating team is often safer. A medical record review will tell you.
Bunion surgery cost breakdown: where the money goes
Approximate share of a typical all-inclusive package by component.
| Component | Share | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Surgeon fee | 24% | The operating surgeon, who plans the bone cut and soft-tissue release. About $700 – $1,300 of the package, rising with case complexity. |
| Anaesthesia | 9% | Regional ankle block or light general anaesthesia with monitoring, roughly $250 – $500. |
| Theatre and day unit | 17% | Operating room time, instruments, recovery bay and nursing before discharge, around $500 – $950. |
| Screws, plates or wires | 14% | Fixation hardware that holds the corrected bone. This is a smaller line than in joint replacement, near $400 – $750. |
| Imaging and laboratory | 7% | Weight-bearing X-rays before surgery, basic blood tests and a check film, about $200 – $400. |
| Post-operative footwear | 4% | A rigid or wedge shoe or walking boot, dressings and crutches if needed, close to $100 – $200. |
| Follow-up visits | 8% | Wound check and stitch removal, usually within 2 weeks, about $250 – $450. |
| Medication and consumables | 6% | Pain relief, antibiotics and dressings, around $200 – $350. |
| Coordination and transfers | 11% | Case management, interpreter, hotel transfers and hospital escort, about $350 – $600. |
What affects the cost of bunion surgery?
- Technique chosen
- A simple distal osteotomy costs less than a proximal or Lapidus fusion, which needs stronger hardware and a longer boot period, often adding a noticeable share.
- Severity of the bunion
- Larger angles and joint arthritis call for more complex correction, which lengthens theatre time and raises the bill.
- Number of toes treated
- Correcting a hammertoe or lesser toe in the same session adds theatre time and hardware, usually a moderate increase.
- One foot or both
- Operating on both feet saves one trip but doubles hardware and lengthens recovery, so the bill rises by well over half.
- Minimally invasive approach
- Keyhole techniques use special burrs and imaging, which can add a technology premium of a modest share.
- Anaesthesia type
- Regional block with sedation costs less than general anaesthesia plus an overnight observation stay.
- Hospital tier and city
- Premium hospitals in capital cities charge more for theatre and rooms, often by 5% to 15% in many price lists.
- Fixation hardware
- Locking plates and bio-absorbable pins cost more than standard screws, with visible differences in the hardware line.
- Surgeon experience
- Highly experienced foot specialists charge more, which can be reasonable for complex deformities.
- Revision or repeat bunion
- A recurrence is harder than a first operation and is nearly always priced higher.
- Comorbidities
- Diabetes, circulation problems or blood-thinning medication may add tests, monitoring or a night in hospital.
Cost by technique or variant
Compare quotes for the same variant only. Robotic, bilateral and revision procedures are priced separately.
Total budget for bunion surgery abroad
The total trip cost for bunion surgery is the package plus a short stay, flights, a companion, insurance and aftercare at home. Because the operation is a day case, the trip is brief, and most of the extra cost is travel rather than hospital care. The table lists each line in relative terms.
| Budget line | Size compared with the package | When it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Partner package ($3,000 – $5,500) | The anchor figure for the whole plan | Deposit on booking, balance on arrival or at discharge |
| Return flights for you | Usually a modest fraction of the package, depending on your origin | At booking |
| Companion flights | Similar to your own flight and the largest travel add-on | At booking |
| Hotel near the hospital | A short stay of several nights, since you cannot walk freely at first | Before or on arrival |
| Transfers | Often included in the package for hospital trips | Included or paid locally |
| Meals and local transport | Small, but taxis replace walking while you wear the boot | During the stay |
| Travel and complication insurance | A small percentage of trip cost | Before departure |
| Rehabilitation at home | A few physiotherapy sessions, small compared with the package | After returning |
| Contingency | Reserve for one extra night, a hardware upgrade or a changed flight | Held in reserve |
Worked example: total at home versus total in turkey
Imagine a patient in the United States whose typical local price is $14,100. The partner package in turkey is $3,000 – $5,500, a typical saving of 70%, or $9,850 in money. Flights for two, a hotel and a few meals consume part of that saving, but usually not all of it.
Now take a patient in France, where the typical figure is $6,400. The saving is 34% or $2,150. Once flights, a companion and hotel nights are subtracted, a thin margin can disappear. The honest answer is that distance and local price decide this, not the headline gap.
A patient in Canada faces $8,200 privately and often a long wait publicly. A saving of 48% plus a faster date can still justify the trip. Our travel and accommodation guide helps you budget the non-medical lines.
How to use the budget
Ask for the package in writing, then price flights and hotel yourself. Add a contingency reserve and an insurance quote. Compare the total with the local price, including your time off work. If the margin is thin, stay home. Our quote request gives you a number to test.
Travel, hotel and insurance costs for bunion surgery
Travel, hotel and companion costs
Travel costs for bunion surgery are lower than for inpatient operations because the stay is short, but they can still decide whether the trip makes sense. The largest items are the flight for you and a companion, then the hotel. Meals and local transport are small by comparison.
Flights
Flights depend on your origin. From Europe the fare is usually modest, and from North America or Australia it becomes the main travel line. A companion is strongly advised because you cannot carry bags or walk long distances on the operated foot. Book flexible fares if possible, because a surgeon may ask for an extra day.
How long you stay
The hospital stay is 0 nights, since you go home from the day unit. But most patients stay in a hotel for several days to attend a wound check and to rest the foot. Airlines and surgeons generally allow flying within days for a simple correction, though a longer wait suits a Lapidus fusion. Read our flying after surgery guide for general rules.
Hotel and getting around
Choose a hotel with a lift, a walk-in shower and a short transfer to the hospital. Avoid cobbled streets and steep hills in Istanbul, which are hard on crutches or a boot. A ground-floor room near transport saves effort and cost.
Meals and local transport
Meals are inexpensive compared with Western Europe or North America. Taxis and transfers replace walking, so budget more for them than for a normal holiday. Room service during the first two days is worth the small extra cost.
Staying safe while you move
Your foot will be bandaged and swollen for the first days. Keep it raised when resting, use the crutches or scooter supplied and avoid wet pavements. A fall on the operated foot can undo the correction, and the cost of one is far above any taxi fare. Spending a little more on transport is good value.
Ways to control spend
- Book flights early and choose flexible return dates.
- Choose a hotel within a short transfer of the hospital.
- Ask the coordinator which transfers are already in the package.
- Travel with one companion rather than two.
- Plan the second wound check so you do not extend the stay twice.
Our companion guide explains what your helper should do.
Insurance and financing
Elective bunion surgery abroad is rarely covered by home insurance, because many plans treat the operation as cosmetic unless pain and function problems are documented. Ask your insurer before you travel, and assume you will pay out of pocket until they confirm in writing.
Asking your insurer or health fund
Ask four questions. Does the plan cover foot surgery abroad at all? Does it need prior authorisation? Will it reimburse a bundled price? Does it cover complications treated at home after a procedure abroad? Record the name of the person who answers and ask for a reference number.
Public and employer schemes
Some national schemes, such as cross-border arrangements within the European Union, allow reimbursement of planned care abroad in set circumstances. Gulf nationals are often covered at home but may need prior authorisation to be treated abroad. Employer plans vary widely. Never assume reimbursement without a written answer.
Travel and complication cover
Standard travel insurance often excludes planned surgery. Specialist medical-travel policies may cover complications, extra nights and repatriation. Read exclusions for pre-existing conditions, and check that the limit would cover a second operation if one were needed.
Documents to request
- A signed quote that names the technique, hardware and inclusions.
- An operation note and implant record with lot numbers.
- A discharge summary with medication, wound care and activity limits.
- Itemised invoices and proof of payment in your currency.
- Follow-up instructions for your local clinician.
Why the answer is often no
Insurers pay for treatment judged medically necessary and delivered by approved providers. Bunions sit in a grey zone, because some are painful and disabling while others are mainly about appearance. A plan may accept the claim only after you show pain, trouble with footwear and failed shoe changes, insoles or padding.
Claiming after the event
If your insurer allows reimbursement, submit the invoice, operation note and a doctor's letter explaining why surgery was needed. Cosmetic reasons are usually refused. Document pain, trouble with footwear and failed conservative care. See also our follow-up after returning home guide.
How to pay for bunion surgery
Payment for bunion surgery in turkey is usually a deposit on booking and a balance on arrival or at discharge. Ask for the schedule in writing and confirm the currency, the accepted methods and what happens if you cancel or the surgeon changes the plan.
Deposit and balance
A deposit confirms the date and the hospital slot. The balance typically falls due before the operation or at discharge. Because the package is a fixed bundle, the final amount should match the quote unless you add procedures or choose an upgrade.
Currency and methods
Ask which currency the contract uses. Bank transfer and card are common, and cash may be accepted in local currency. Compare the exchange rate with the market rate, and check your bank's foreign transaction fee. Fees can add a small percentage that you should include in your budget.
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Is the deposit refundable? | Surgery may be postponed because of illness or a failed pre-check. |
| What currency is the contract in? | Exchange movements can change the cost in your own currency. |
| Is anything billed after discharge? | Extra nights or hardware upgrades should be priced in advance. |
| Who pays for a revision? | The policy for a repeat operation should be stated in writing. |
| Is a receipt issued? | You need itemised proof for your insurer or tax claim. |
Comparing quotes in one currency
Convert every quote to the same currency on the same day. Compare it with the home price, and then add flights, hotel and insurance. A package of $3,000 – $5,500 against a local $3,350 – $11,050 is only a useful comparison once the extras are listed.
Financing and medical loans
Medical loans and payment plans can spread the cost, but interest erodes the saving on a small operation. For a day-case procedure, avoid borrowing at high rates. If you must finance, compare the full repayment with the saving against your local price.
Refunds and cancellation
Ask what happens if you fall ill before the trip, if the surgeon declines to operate after examining you or if a flight is cancelled. A good provider explains each case in the contract. Keep copies of all messages. Our hospital admission guide shows what to expect on the day.
Bunion surgery cost versus value: what you get
Value in bunion surgery means a well-chosen technique, a surgeon who does the operation often, a hospital with sound standards and a plan for the weeks after the flight home. A lower bunion surgery cost is attractive, but only if those things are present.
Surgeon volume and technique choice
Foot surgeons who treat many bunions tend to pick the technique to match the deformity rather than using one approach for every patient. Ask how many corrections they do a year, which techniques they use and how they handle recurrence. A surgeon who offers only one method for all feet deserves a second question.
Hardware and hospital standards
Screws and plates from recognised manufacturers are standard. What varies is the sterile process, theatre discipline and day-unit nursing. Accreditation by an international body is a useful signal, though not a promise. See our hospitals page for how we vet partners.
Compare how the bunion surgery cost behaves against a neighbouring operation too. Our flatfoot reconstruction cost guide and ankle fusion cost guide show how a heavier foot operation changes both the bill and the stay.
Speed and coordination
Waiting lists for foot surgery in public systems can stretch for months. In turkey, a date within weeks is common. A coordinator handles records, scheduling, transfers and language, which lowers stress for patients who have never travelled for care.
Aftercare at the destination
The wound check, stitch removal and a short physiotherapy briefing take place before you fly. Make sure the plan includes weight-bearing rules, swelling control and signs of infection. Read our rehabilitation guide to understand the stages of recovery.
The other side: continuity and recourse
If a screw loosens or the toe drifts back months later, your surgeon is far away. A local foot specialist may agree to review it, but may not want to take on another surgeon's work. Legal recourse across borders is also harder than at home. These costs are real, even if rare.
Recurrence and expectations
Bunions can return in a share of patients, especially when the underlying foot shape or footwear is unchanged. The price of the operation does not alter that. Discuss realistic outcomes, shoe choice and exercises before you commit.
What a good outcome looks like
Success is a straighter toe, less pain in ordinary shoes and a foot that bears weight without drama. It is not a perfect foot, and a small bump or stiffness can remain. A surgeon who describes these limits before the operation is usually a better partner than one who promises a flawless result.
A fair value check divides the whole trip cost, not just the bunion surgery cost, by how likely you are to be happy a year later. That includes your time off work and the effort of arranging follow-up.
When the cheaper option is the local one
If your local price is close to the partner package and you have a trusted surgeon nearby, staying home buys continuity at little extra cost. A trip is justified when the saving, the speed or the surgeon's skill is clearly better.
Revision and complication costs after bunion surgery
If something goes wrong after bunion surgery, the cost depends on what happened and where you are. Most patients recover without major problems, but wound healing delays, stiffness, infection, nerve irritation or recurrence can occur and need follow-up. Understand the policy before you pay.
What problems look like
Common issues are prolonged swelling, a stiff big toe, a tender scar, hardware irritation and, less often, infection or a bone that heals slowly. Rare problems include a drifting toe or a joint that needs fusion. Tell your surgeon early if redness, fever, drainage or severe pain develops.
What the package usually covers
Packages commonly cover complications that arise during the stay and a defined follow-up window. They rarely cover costs at home, new flights or lost wages. Ask in writing whether the surgeon will re-operate on a failed correction, at what price and for how long the offer stays open.
Treatment abroad versus at home
A minor wound problem can often be managed by your local doctor with a message from the surgeon. A hardware issue or a failed correction may need a return trip or a local revision. Local surgeons may charge a revision rate that is close to the original price.
Insurance and complication cover
A specialist travel policy may pay for medical care related to the operation. Check that elective surgery complications are not excluded. Keep your operation note, implant details and discharge summary, because your local team will need them.
What to put in writing
- How long after surgery the provider will review problems free of charge.
- Whether revision surgery is discounted, and by how much.
- Who arranges and pays for a remote review of photographs or X-rays.
- What happens if you need to extend your stay.
Our turkey bunion page sets out how follow-up is managed. Read it before you sign.
Where should you have bunion surgery? A decision guide
Whether to travel for bunion surgery depends on your local price, your waiting time, how far you live from turkey and how complex your foot is. The table below summarises likely best choices, followed by detail and the next step.
| Situation | Likely best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Insured with short waits and low co-pay | Stay home | Little to save and continuity of care is easy. |
| Long public waiting list in the UK or Canada | Consider turkey or a local private quote | Speed is the main benefit, with a moderate price gap. |
| Uninsured or high-deductible in the United States | Request a quote from turkey | The largest saving is against the US benchmark. |
| Gulf national whose plan excludes foot surgery | Turkey is often reasonable | Short flight, defined price and fast dates. |
| EU patient in France, Italy or Spain | Compare local private quotes first | Local prices are already close to the package. |
| Diabetes, poor circulation or heavy smoking | Stay near your treating team | Healing risk needs close local follow-up. |
| Severe arthritis in the big-toe joint | Seek a specialist opinion first | Fusion or a different operation may be needed. |
Insured with short waits
If your plan covers the operation and the wait is a few weeks, the saving in turkey is rarely worth the trip. You keep your surgeon, your follow-up and your legal protections. Check your co-pay and compare it with $3,000 – $5,500 before deciding.
Long waits in public systems
If you face a long wait, travel can shorten it. Patients in the UK see a benchmark of $3,350 – $11,050, with a saving of 41%. Weigh that against the lower local price of a private day clinic, which may be competitive.
Uninsured or high-deductible in the United States
This group sees the biggest benefit. A benchmark of $6,400 – $21,800 against $3,000 – $5,500 gives a saving of 70%. Ask for a records review, and check that your local doctor will accept follow-up. Our why turkey guide explains the model.
Gulf nationals and EU patients
Gulf patients may need prior authorisation to be treated abroad and should ask before travelling. EU patients may have cross-border reimbursement rights in set circumstances, and local private prices in France, Italy or Spain are often low. Compare both before you book.
Complex health or family needs
If you have complex health conditions, stay close to your care team. If you rely on family for help during recovery, remember that a trip needs a companion and may disrupt household duties. Staying home may be wiser even at a higher cost.
Work, driving and family duties
Think about the weeks after surgery. Desk workers often return sooner than people who stand or lift, and driving depends on which foot was operated on and whether the car is automatic. If you care for children or relatives, a trip away adds planning. These practical points matter as much as the saving.
Taking the next step
Start with a records review: send foot X-rays, a short history and your current medication through our medical record review. Then request a personal quote, compare it with your local price and review treatment planning before you decide. Read about bunions and hammertoe if you are unsure of the diagnosis.
Questions to ask before you book bunion surgery
- 01Which exact technique will be used for my bunion, and why is it right for my deformity rather than a simpler or more extensive one?
- 02What hardware will be implanted, who makes it and will I receive the implant record with lot numbers?
- 03Is the bunion surgery cost in the quote a fixed bundle, and which items could still be billed separately later?
- 04How many bunion corrections does the surgeon perform a year, and how often is a revision needed?
- 05Which anaesthetic will I have, and does it require an overnight stay in the hospital?
- 06How long must I stay in turkey before flying, and who decides that I am fit to travel?
- 07When can I put weight on the foot, and what footwear will I need for the first weeks?
- 08What does the quote say about treating a second toe, such as a hammertoe, in the same session?
- 09What is the follow-up plan after I return home, and who reviews photographs or X-rays?
- 10What happens financially if the correction drifts or the hardware needs removal?
- 11Is the deposit refundable, and under what conditions can the surgeon decline to operate?
- 12Which hospital accreditation applies, and can I see the facility's infection control policy?
How we calculate bunion surgery prices
The figures on this page come from two sources: a live partner package price in turkey and benchmark ranges for other countries. The benchmarks are estimates built from approved records such as self-pay lists, tariffs and insurer datasets. They are not quotes and do not represent any single hospital.
How benchmark ranges are built
For each country we collect approved price records for the same operation and group them by percentile. The low and high values are the lower and upper bounds of that spread, rounded to simplify reading. The typical value is the midpoint. All amounts are displayed in USD, converted at the date of the record set.
How the partner price is built
The turkey range is the contracted partner package, which bundles surgery, hardware, day-unit care and follow-up. It has a validity window and a version, and assumes a stated technique and hardware. When the window ends, the price is reviewed and may change.
What is and is not included
Benchmarks usually cover the operation, theatre and hardware, but bases differ between self-pay lists and insurer rates. Travel, accommodation and home rehabilitation are excluded. Savings compare the middle of each benchmark with the middle of the partner package, and your own result will differ.
Limits and how to read them
Ranges are wide because techniques, severity and hospital tiers vary. A saving figure is not a promise. Treat the numbers as a screening tool, then request a personal quote after a records review. We update figures when new records and package versions are approved.
